NVIR Uplink

Setup your EDMC Uplink to contribute to the Hall of Fame and announce your achievements in the squadron Discord.

What it is

A plugin for Elite Dangerous Market Connector (Elite Dangerous Market Connector: The desktop application that reads the Elite Dangerous journal and makes it available to plugins.), written by NVIR members. It reads your game journal — the same file EDSM and Inara already read — and sends a handful of things to the squadron site.

Rank-ups and carrier jumps get announced in the Discord. Your in-game totals feed the Hall of Fame. And it tells the site which commander your profile belongs to, which is what marks you verified on the roster.

Nothing about your membership depends on it, but it is still recommended to install it.

Your data

It sends achievements worth announcing and the totals the game already keeps for you. Not where you are, not what you are carrying, not your materials or engineer progress — and there is no setting that would.

Everything NVIR holds for you is listed on your profile, each with a switch. Turning the Hall of Fame off deletes your totals and refuses any more, so your next session will not quietly put them back.

It can only see what EDMC sees. The plugin reads your journal and nothing else on your machine, and it sends only what you have switched on.

Installing

Download the plugin

From the NVIR Uplink repository.

Unzip it into EDMC’s plugins folder

File → Settings → Plugins → Open opens the right folder. The EDMC-NVIR-Uplink folder goes straight in — no extra folder around it, or EDMC will not find it.

Restart EDMC

Uplink appears in the settings and gets a row in the main window.

Generate a token and paste it in

On your profile, then into File → Settings → NVIR Uplink.

Start the game

Your commander is verified and your totals sent at the next login.

Nothing happens until you launch the game. EDMC hands the plugin nothing at all while Elite is closed, so pasting your token is not the moment anything is sent — your next login is. Nothing else is needed; log in once and it sorts itself out.

Your token is a password. It is the only thing proving an event came from you, so keep it to yourself. If it gets out, generate a new one on your profile — that kills the old one immediately.

Profile Preferences

What gets announced, and if your totals contribute to the Hall of Fame, are both on your profile. You can change your preferences at any time, and changes apply straight away.

Broadcast

Uplink gives you control over which achievements may be announced. Each category can be enabled or disabled independently from the plugin settings.

Hall of Fame

You can opt-in to the Hall of Fame by enabling the Hall of Famecategory, or remove all your existing data from hall of fame by disabling the Hall of Fame category.

Stealth Mode

Want to disappear for a while? Enable Stealth Mode. It disables all broadcasts without changing your individual category preferences.
